B is a single mom with a 7 year old and a 1 year old. Her family was one of the families that West Webb/First Win provided Christmas gifts for. Through that process we learned that she did not have reliable transportation since her car was having all sorts of mechanical problems and she could not afford to get the car fixed. B was also having to take care of her ailing mother. Without reliable transportation, B was having a difficult time with her employment. This meant that not having a car was severely impacting her income and her ability to take care of her children and mother.
First Win reached out to OnRamp, a local charity, to see if they could possibly help B with her car. OnRamp helps people in a variety of ways and one of those ways is to provide financial assistance to people who do not have the money to fix their car and do not have any other means of transportation.
Unfortunately, OnRamp determined that B’s car was beyond repair. However, the other way OnRamp helps people is by donating cars to people in need to get them on the road to self-sufficiency.
First Win applied and sponsored B for OnRamp’s vehicle donation program. In order to qualify for this program, an applicant has to successfully complete several prerequisites, including obtaining employment.
We are ecstatic to announce that B has not only recently obtained a new job, she has also been notified that she has been accepted into OnRamp’s vehicle donation program and will be recieving a new car very soon. A huge thanks goes out to West Webb lawyer, Anna Balke, who was instrumental in helping and guiding B through the process.
